About This Blog

The primary purpose of the criminal justice system is to protect the public and punish criminals appropriately. Yet the system must reconcile the responsibility to protect society from harm with the need to abide by the fundamental principles of equity and fairness. In many situations, that is not the case. My experience and that of many others are the primary motivation for this blog. This blog brings to the fore the flaws in the U.S. penal system and elsewhere and calls for sensible reform that will ensure: Equity and fairness in the criminal justice system; that those punished are true criminals and innocent citizens are not railroaded and imprisoned; that for real criminals, the punishment fit the crime; the curtailment of prosecutorial misconduct.
